The Supreme Court of India has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh for Yahoo, Facebook Ireland, Facebook India, Google India, Google Inc., Microsoft and Whatsapp, which failed to prevent uploading porn and child porn videos. The Supreme Court fires over the failure to take any action to prevent porn videos.
Justice Madan B. Lokur and Uday Umesh Lalit issued a notices to internet giants on April 16, to take actions against child porn and violent sex videos. However, the bench, which had responded to the absence of any response from them, has issued directives to respond by June 15,along with affidavits, and a fine of Rs.1 lakh each, which will be kept in a short-term fixed deposit.
