CM unveils pylon to mark completion of one lakh farm ponds and Krishna water to Bhairavani tippa project
Anantapur: Anantapur district bagged first place in the country by digging more than on lakh farm ponds as part of rain water harvesting and increasing ground water level. Farmers as well officials strived hard to win the first place in farm ponds with the initiative of state govt.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu congratulated the past and present collectors K Sasidhar and Veera Pandian for achieving the credit and presented a citation today.
It may be noted that the state govt has taken up the digging farm ponds to benefit the farmers through water harvesting measures in all the 13 districts. Taking the message of the govt as a mission the farmers and officials of lowest rain fall district Anantapur completed digging of 1,04,358 farm ponds to prevent migration of farmers. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has taken up the programme to make Anantapur as drought proof district.
As a result of the farm ponds now farmers are able to protect their standing crops including horticulture in a big way.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu unveiled a pylon of a lift irrigation scheme to provide Krishna water to Bhairavani tippa project from Handri neeva sujala sravanti Jeedipalli reservoir in Rayadurgam constituency and marking the completion of one lakh farm ponds today and interacted with farmers.
Addressing the farmers, the Chief Minister said that Rayalaseema would be developed as a horticultural hub. He said the Bhairavanitippa project would be completed by January to supply Krishna water to Bhairavanitippa to prevent desertification of Rayadurgam constituency.
He said that the NDA govt failed to release funds for backward districts in the state. He said that central govt has taken back the money allotted for backward region in the state.
The Chief Minister said Kia motors set up in Anantapur district would provide employment opportunity to 25000 people. He said Anantapur district would be developed as horticulture, hardware, automobile, industrial and education hub.
The chief Minister said 43 per cent deficit rainfall was recorded in Anantapur district. All the 63 mandals in the district were declared as drought affected mandals.
Praising the initiative of Minister Kalava Srinivasulu for the development of Rayadurgam constituency the Chief Minister announced Rs 200 cr towards supplying water to tanks, Rs 80 cr towards extention of Avuladatla canal and Rs 5 cr towards preparing DPR for Untakallu Reservoir construction. Later the Chief Minister released a book Rayadurgam Bhavisyat Jala Drushyam brought out by Minister Kalava Srinivasulu.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Kalava Srinivasulu showered praises on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He said the Chief Minister prevented migration of farmers by allotting Rs 969 cr to supply Krishna water to Bhairavani tippa project.
MP JC Diwakara Reddy described Chief Minister as Jaladaata, who supplied water to the drought ridden Anantapur district.
Ministers Paritala Sunita, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Legislative council chief whip Payyavula Kesav, Govt whip Yamini Bala, ZP chairman P Nagaraju, MLAs Parthasaradhi, V Suri, JC Prabhakara Reddy, Eeranna, MLCs Samantakamani, G Tippeswamy and others were present.
