IMD issues red alert in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Red and orange alerts for eight districts in Kerala. We all know that Kerala state is hugely suffering from floods.

 

Red alert has been issued for Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad, Kasaragod districts. Orange alert is for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur districts.

 

High waves in the range of 3 to 4 meters were expected till midnight of August 11. Kerala Chief Minister’s Office has opened a 24-hour control room to monitor the situation.

 

24 relief camps are functioning in the state. 8 Engineering task force have been deployed in various districts of Kerala. In coordination with the Navy and Air Force Army also intensified the relief and rescue operations.
