
Shimla:With an investment of 3,500 crore the worlds longest tunnel is inagurated by prime minister Modi today afternoon.The tunnel is located in the state of himachal pradesh and is as tall as 9.2km.The tunnel is set at 10,213feets above the sea level,the tunnel is built from manali to spiti valley ,the tunnel will decrease approximately 7 hours and 45km in distance of travel between Manali to leh in ladak.
The tunnel does not require to be closed down even when there is snowfall and the tunnel can be used by the army as per their requirements apart from general travel use by the citizens.

14,598 tonnes of iron has been used in the construction of the tunnel,and 14 lakh cubic meters of sand and stones have been digged out.the tunnel is protectected by installing emergency fire extingishers at every 60meters and telephone connection at every 150 meter,emergency door at every 500 meters and mics and CC camera at every 250 meters of range.
